Keys Strong and Good360 Donate Over One Half Million Dollars of New Furniture

To Families Devastated by Hurricane Irma Victims

Sixty-Eight Florida Keys Families Received Brand New Furniture Through the Generous Support of Rooms To Go

Marathon (August 2018) – Keys Strong and Good360 distributed over one half million dollars-worth of new furniture donated through the generous support of Rooms To Go. The furniture was given to  families selected by Keys Strong who are survivors of Hurricane Irma. Five tractor trailers full of new furniture was sent to the Florida Keys for the initiative along with a number of new home appliances which were also donated and distributed to the families.

The furniture was distributed to families over a few days and they enjoyed a luncheon and press conference Friday, August 10^th, 2018 held at 11:00 AM at the Royal Furniture Warehouse located at 1757 Overseas Highway, Marathon, Florida 33050. The luncheon and press conference was hosted by Keys Strong and Good360 executives and volunteers and Florida Keys.

“We are so grateful to Good360 and Rooms To Go for their extraordinary support of our community and the families that continue to be so greatly in need from the aftermath of Hurricane Irma”, said Keys Strong Co-Founder and Co-Chair, Elmira Leto. “It continues to be such a privilege for Keys Strong to help serve as a catalyst for so many great organizations that help our community every day as we work to recover from the storm and we would also like to thank the Ewell Family for their generous donation of their warehouse in Marathon to help facilitate the distribution of the furniture to the families”. Leto, who has been serving the Florida Keys community providing shelter and social services to families for over 20 years through her “Samuel’s House Foundation”, was recently inducted by Florida Governor, Rick Scott in 2016 into the Florida “The Florida Women’s Hall of Fame” for her continuing work with the homeless.

“We are thrilled to be able to work with Keys Strong and Rooms To Go to help donate and distribute all of this much needed furniture and appliances to the families in the Keys”, said Good360 Program Development Coordinator, Kaitlin Fitzgerald. “We hope the furniture and appliances provides comfort to these amazing and courageous families. It’s hard to believe that thousands of families are still homeless almost a year later after the storm and so many are still struggling to rebuild their lives”.
